Conduct of Earthquake Drill (NSED)
The eleven campuses of Batangas State University located across the Batangas province actively participated in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) in response to the approved NDRRMC Memorandum No. 08 s. 2021, re: conduct of the CY 2021 Quarterly Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. In view thereof, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, University President, directed all campuses, through the ACTION Center, to participate in the drills. The directive also considered the pandemic situation. Due to the limitations in the conduct of mass gatherings and in adherence to the COVID-19 health standards, evacuation drills in all BatStateU campuses were not required to practice the evacuation. Instead, all personnel were enjoined to simultaneously the duck, cover and hold for safety purposes.
Through the ACTION Center, the detailed instructions were provided to the building marshals and designated members of the Incident Management Teams. To ensure the awareness and preparedness on the inevitable occurrence of earthquake even in the midst of pandemic, all personnel were advised to refer to NDRRMC Memorandum 71, s. 2020 specifically on the IEC for NSED. ACTION Center requested all campuses to submit via e-mail the photographs and post-activity evaluation reports pertaining to their involvement and participation in the drill.
