Benchmarking Activity (Benguet State University)
Benguet State University, Buguias Campus through their College of Criminal Justice Education conducted their benchmarking activities in Batangas State University on April 4 2022. The activity was in reference to the feasibility study being conducted by Benguet State University regarding their intention to offer Bachelor of Science in Crisis and Disaster Risk Reduction Management. The College of Accountancy, Business Economics and International Hospitality Management (CABEIHM) through the Graduate School’s Master in Disaster Risk Management Department accommodated the representatives from the university.
Benguet State University was represented by: (Names and position of BSU). Dr. Bendalyn Landicho, the Dean of CABEIHM; Dr. Elroy Joseph Valdez, the Department Chair for MDRM; Dr. Nickie Boy Manalo, the Director for Action Center and DREAM Academy; and Mr. Angelo Panilagan, the Faculty with Special Assignment to the Dean’s Office, welcomed the participants.
A simple program for the said activity was initiated at the Lecture Room 1, International Affairs Office CITE Bldg. An opening prayer was led by Mr. Angelo Panilagan. Dr. Nickie Boy Manalo and Dr. Bendalyn Landicho delivered the opening remarks and the message respectively. The discussion of the MDRM program details was facilitated by Dr. Elroy Joseph Valdez. The VMGO, core values and the quality policy of the university was presented. This was followed by the presentation of the university officials putting emphasis on the officials coming from the college. Details are as follow:

Specifically, the MDRM program presentation started with college information and introduction. College and Graduate School Goals and Objectives were presented. Instructions focused on the implementation of the MDRM program through the Board Resolution No. 711, S.2-17, the program educational objectives, student outcomes, MDRM curriculum, units per courses, enrolment data, and the presentation of the MDRM lecturers. Successful alumni’s achievements and testimonials were also presented as well as the testimonials from public sectors and the program’s best practices. It was pointed out that MDRM is the first to be offered in Southern Tagalog region; BatStateU has its Disaster Resiliency Education for Adaptation and Mitigation Academy (DREAM)/ Action Center; CABEIHM and MDRM Faculty members crafted the Operation Listo Manual for Volcanic Eruption created for Disaster Risk Management; CABEIHM and MDRM Faculty members crafted the Operation Listo Manual for Volcanic Eruption created for Disaster Risk Management; MDRM Faculty members/lecturers are all DRM and LGU Practitioners; and that BatStateU Action Center is also the Region’s Response and Command Center for Disaster Risk Management. Sample MOA and the Present the University Facilities were presented at the last part of the discussion.
Discussion of the possible MOA between Benguet State University and BatStateU was also done. Both universities through the representative dedicated their time for possible partnership and the various mechanisms or guidelines were also discussed. Benchmarking was ended with awarding of Certificate of Appearance and Picture Taking. A simple lunch was offered among participants at the CABEIHM Dean’s Office.
